WONDERING ABOUT A WEEKDAY WEDDING?

Why do we always choose weekend weddings?

The obvious reason is that everyone is available. Well,  perhaps that isn’t the case anymore; more and more people are working over the weekends, and it could be merely tradition that leads us to believe we should have our weddings on a Saturday and Sunday. Let’s take a look at some great reasons to have your wedding celebrations during the week.

Your ideal suppliers and dream venue are likely to be more readily available.

You can very often get fantastic discounts for holding your wedding celebration mid-week. You also don’t necessarily have to start your arrangements a year in advance for fear of not having your perfect day. By simply choosing an off-peak day, you almost guarantee a lower price and the day you want. Lots of beautiful venues offer great last-minute deals that could save you hundreds of pounds.

In addition to saving money on the venue, you are more likely to get the caterers, photographers, and videographers that you want, as well as your ideal hair and makeup team and florist. Most companies will offer a discount for a quieter day, so really, it just makes sense to keep this as an option.

When it comes to your entertainment, it is a no-brainer. We all know that bands and entertainers are super busy at the weekends, so ensure you get what you want by booking them for your weekday wedding.

A number of Quinn Artistes wedding bands and singers are so popular for Saturday and Sunday events that we have booked them for up to almost two years in advance. We book many of our surprise singers, acoustic musicians, and string quartets months in advance, not just bands and singers.

So not only can you get a better deal on your venue, suppliers, and entertainment, but there are a few other reasons for booking a weekday wedding.

BE OUR GUEST

Let’s look at why it is most cost-effective to book accommodation during the week.

Weekend vs. weekday rates:

Hotels tend to charge higher rates on weekends due to increased demand from travellers, events, and local getaways. Conversely, weekday rates are generally lower, making it easier to find affordable accommodations.

Availability:

Weekends can see higher occupancy rates, leading to limited availability. During the weekdays, hotels are more likely to have vacancies, providing more options to choose from.

Guest Satisfaction:

Booking during the week can lead to a more pleasant experience for guests, with less crowding and potentially better service.

TRAVELLING LIGHT

We all know that public transport is more expensive and busier at the weekend. Why not eliminate the queues, unnecessary cost, and stress for your guests by having a midweek wedding? Weekday discounts apply to most airlines and train companies, allowing your guests, who may be on a budget, to attend your big day without worrying about the cost. What’s not to love?

Midweek celebrations give you more time to spend with your loved ones and friends.

Having a midweek wedding celebration means you and your guests may be able to spend a little longer together. Extended celebrations provide more opportunities to spend quality time with your guests, creating lasting memories and having a ton of fun.

With more time, the overall atmosphere can be more relaxed and enjoyable, allowing everyone to unwind and truly enjoy the celebration without feeling rushed.

Having more time means you can plan a variety of activities over the course of the weekend, such as brunches, picnics, sightseeing tours, or even fun group activities like hiking, beach outings, or wine tastings. Sounds perfect.

Even if your wedding is local, a multi-day celebration can give it a destination wedding feel, providing a mini-vacation experience for your guests, so everyone is getting a nice break away as well as being there to celebrate your big day. All of you, friends and family, will have time to really get to know each other, create new relationships, or deepen the previous ones.

By extending your wedding celebration over multiple days, you can create a more immersive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, making your special day even more unforgettable.

No photo bombing.

With fewer people around, you can capture uninterrupted, serene moments that truly highlight the beauty of the location and the intimacy of the occasion. Opting for weekdays can make popular photo locations, often crowded on weekends, more accessible, enabling you to enjoy unique and exclusive spots without the hassle of waiting.

Weekday shoots can provide better control over timing, allowing you to make the most of natural light at different times of the day for a variety of stunning photo effects. With fewer distractions and less hustle and bustle, you and your photographer can work more creatively and efficiently, resulting in a more enjoyable and stress-free photo session.

The quieter environment allows for a more personalised and intimate photo experience, making it easier to relax and be yourselves in front of the camera. Taking advantage of quieter photo locations on a weekday can result in unique, beautiful, and stress-free wedding photos that perfectly capture the essence of your special day.

Four weddings and a big decision to make

Booking an ‘off peak’ date will mean your guests are more likely to attend. With so many weddings celebrated at the weekend, you are likely to get fewer conflicting dates for other weddings if you book midweek, which means more of your loved ones will be able to attend and you won’t have the stress of having to choose which one to attend. They can relax on your day, knowing they aren’t missing another event or wedding to be with you.

More Personalised Attention: With fewer guests juggling multiple wedding invitations, you’re more likely to receive their full attention and participation, making your wedding experience richer and more engaging.

Easier Planning for Guests: Guests can plan their schedules around your wedding without the stress of coordinating with other events, making it more convenient for them to participate in all your wedding-related activities.

Unique Experience: Weekday weddings can feel more unique and special as they stand out from the typical weekend wedding routine, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Booking your wedding on a weekday not only helps avoid clashes with other weddings, but it also increases the likelihood of higher attendance and a more enjoyable, stress-free celebration for you and your guests.

A DAY OFF, YOU SAY? Go on, then.

Having a midweek day celebration is quite a novelty; it will add an air of excitement to the day, and who doesn’t want a good excuse for a day off work? With so many people now working longer hours, it’s a great way for you and your guests to take time away from hectic schedules to relax while enjoying the nuptials.

We know there are numerous studies showing how a well-deserved and relaxing break from work can be highly productive and increase job satisfaction, so when your guests return to work, they will be refreshed and happy.

Weekday Wedding Entertainment (2)

Can I get some great deals for midweek entertainment?

Yes, you can.

Many entertainers understand that wedding costs can become higher during the process of organising your special day. They are also aware that most of their bookings are on Saturdays, which means there is some room for negotiation when booking your entertainment. However, popular acts sometimes still have limited availability, so book early to avoid disappointment. At Quinn Artistes, we can help you find the perfect singer, band, or even a great tribute act for your day.) We can also provide you with fabulous surprise singing waiters who will liven up your wedding breakfast and get all your guests up dancing and having fun—warming them up for the evening entertainment.

Always discuss your likes and dislikes with your booking agent, as this will help tailor their suggestions for you, but do keep an open mind. Here at Quinn Artists, we have a multitude of different options for your celebration, from classical musicians to caricature artists.

When booking, always look at genuine reviews; this will give you an idea of the standards of the performers and how professional the booking agency is. Also, check that the entertainment agency is a member of the Agents Association. The Agents Association has specific criteria that agents must comply with.

If you do get the chance, see your potential entertainer performing live, as sometimes social media can be deceiving; again, check reviews.

Be sure to check with your venue to see if the space is adequate for what you want, and discuss whether there is a sound limiter in the room, as this may affect the type of entertainer you can book.

Be sure to get a contract! All reputable agents will use contracts and ensure all details are covered before you pay a deposit.

Overall, there are so many pluses to booking a midweek wedding, so why wait?

If you are planning your wedding, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials, and be sure to chat with us at Quinn Artists to see if we can provide your perfect entertainment.
