This George Formby tribute act is a massive fan of iconic George Formby, OBE who was born in Wigan, Lancashire on 26 May 1904 and died 6 March 1961. His birth name was George Hoy Booth and later took his father’s name as his stage name after the sudden death of his father.
He was an English actor, singer-songwriter and comedian who became known to a worldwide audience through his films of the 1930s and 1940s. He sang comical songs usually usually playing the ukulele or banjolele. On stage, screen and record he sang light, comical songs, became the UK’s highest-paid entertainer of his time.
Performing fully self contained lively and fun loving show this entertainer plays the ukulele and banjo in the classic and unique George Formby style, singing a selection of Mr Formby’s cheeky tunes plus other well known and foot tapping sing along music. This show is fully interactive and ideal for any vintage, 1940’s or wartime events and functions.
