Bring it back to the 80’s with this electric Erasure Tribute
In 1995 Mark appeared on ITV’s “Stars In Their Eyes” (and again for the 1995 Christmas Special) as Erasure’s Andy Bell, to universal acclaim.
He met Pete in 1996 and the pair began writing original material together and at the same time launched Erasure Tribute, with which they toured the circuit for over ten years. The magic eventually waned, but the pair stayed the closest of friends.
Then in 2018 Mark and Pete were invited to recreate the recent arena gigs Robbie Williams had done with Erasure. They agreed to do the gig as a ‘one off’ for nostalgia’s sake. The show was a huge success and they again found their passion for Erasure music, and started touring again as Erasure Tribute, with new technology and new outfits!
WHO ARE THE REAL ERASURE?
Erasure are an English synth-pop duo formed in London in 1985, consisting of lead vocalist and songwriter Andy Bell with songwriter, producer and keyboardist Vince Clarke, previously known as co-founder of the band Depeche Mode and a member of synth-pop duo Yazoo.
From their fourth single, “Sometimes” (1986), Erasure established themselves on the UK Singles Chart, becoming one of the most successful acts of the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. From 1986 to 2007, the pair achieved 24 consecutive top-40 entries in the UK singles chart. By 2009, 34 of their 37 chart-eligible singles and EPs had made the UK top 40, including 17 climbing into the top 10. At the 1989 Brit Awards, Erasure won the Brit Award for Best British Group.
With their second release The Circus the following year in 1987 came major success, the album skyrocketing to a UK number 6 and spawning four top-20 singles.
