Interesting facts about Dusty Springfield
- Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien OBE was born in West Hampstead in London.
- In 1958 she joined her first professional group, The Lana Sisters,
- She adopted the name Dusty Springfield when she joined a pop-folk vocal trio, The Springfields, with her brother Tom Springfield and Tim Feild.
- She collaborated with The Pet Shop Boys, she returned to the Top 10 of the UK and US charts in 1987 with “What Have I Done to Deserve This?
- Dusty had the vocal range of a mezzo soprano.
- She died on the 2 March 1999 of breast cancer.
- The last studio track Dusty Springfield recorded was George and Ira Gershwin’s song “Someone to Watch Over Me” – for an insurance company TV advertisement.
