AMAZING VOCALS FROM THIS WONDERFUL ADELE TRIBUTE ACT MADDIE
Adele tribute act Maddie started her vocal training at the age of 10, singing light classical music, show tunes, jazz; which provided an excellent foundation for her future career. Through high school she built upon this training, performing in dramatic and operatic productions, including the vocally challenging roles of Hansel in Humperdick’s operetta Hansel & Gretel and Yum-Yum in The Mikado.
Whilst continuing her (classical) musical training at Cardiff University she pursued every opportunity she was offered, including the strongly-contested and much-prized honour of being asked to sing solo in the annual Christmas Concert. This stunning singer was a stalwart member of the university Choral Society and Jazz Orchestra as well as playing a variety of instruments in the Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra from time to time. Cardiff University awarded her several prizes for both her academic work and her recital performances.
At the same time she was pursuing her love for popular music, competing in talent competitions, winning numerous local and national awards, including an appearance on HTV Wales. As part of a small renegade group of musicians she broke through the boundaries that had previously been set within those hallowed walls, performing jazz and pop songs regularly in concerts.
Since graduating university and returning to her home of Southend-on-Sea, her musical career has gone from strength to strength. In 2004 this wonderful performer was offered a place in the The Show Providers’ 60s/70s production show, Red Hot Chartbusters; singing, dancing and playing tenor saxophone. For 2006 Chartbusters was revamped into Red Hot Flashback, a fully fledged:
Rock, Pop & Soul Show Where the excellent Maddie [can be heard] belting out Kate Bush’s brilliant Wuthering Heights.Derek Smith, The Stage.
In recent years, she has explored her love of musical theatre, performing in productions of Buddy, Sweeney Todd, BatBoy, Little Shop of Horrors, Mack and Mabel, taking the lead role of Mavis in Stepping Out and her favourite role to date, that of Scaramouche in We Will Rock You. She also created the role of Lulu La Belle in “Let’s Do It… Let’s Fall In Love” , a brand new, through-sung Cole Porter revue, written by fellow Floyd Effect member Garry Tyrrell.
In 2008 she recorded her first original song, written for her by Yiannis, “I Won’t Take It Anymore” and in November 2009 she was awarded first prize in the Actz Factor talent competition at the Circus Tavern for her performances of Somebody to Love and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. As well as her solo work, Maddie performs with Pink Floyd Tribute Band “The Floyd Effect” and as a duo, Stiletto, with fellow cabaret artiste Jamie Louise.
In 2011 Maddie took a role in the UK premiere tour of The Bugle Boy: The Life Story of Glenn Miller, which culminated in a sell-out performance at The Garrick Theatre, London. She has since travelled to Stafford to perform as Fairy Bow Bells in Peter Rowe’s Rock n Roll Panto, Dick Whittington.
In 2012 Maddie returned to Bugle Boy for an extensive UK theatre tour and reprised her role of Fairy Bow Bells, this time at Theatr Clwyd: “The fairer sex on the fairy sax”. She also provided backing vocals for Jon Lee’s (S Club 7) first solo album “Fallen Angel”.
In 2014, Maddie joined the cast of CBeebies Live! The Big Band, which toured the UK’s arenas and played Sister Mary Irene in Sister Act at Kilworth House Hotel for their summer season.
In 2015, she launched her first multi-tribute show. Adele became on of her more popular tribute shows and continues to go from strength to strength.
